The Short Answer

Pop Yachts and Pop RVs Didn't Go Anywhere. They Became Pop Sells.

People still search for Pop Yachts and Pop RVs every day, usually because they bought or sold through one of them, saw an old listing, or heard the name from a friend. The answer to "what happened to Pop Yachts" is simple: nothing bad. The same company, under the same Florida registration it has held since 2009, added RVs in 2015 and adopted one name for both sides of the business in 2017. Pop Sells is Pop Yachts and Pop RVs, grown up and under one roof. I joined in 2015, the year the RV side launched, so I've worked under all three names.

2009: The Beginning — A Different Way to Sell a Boat

The company was formed in Florida on July 6, 2009 as Pop Yachts and marketed itself as Pop Yachts International, a name Pop still uses in its own advertising today. The idea was new at the time: instead of a traditional brokerage that took your boat to its docks, Pop marketed the boat where it sat, handled the buyers, and closed the deal through its own title and escrow team, and it was paid only when the boat sold. Pop stood for Paid on Performance, and it still does. That model attracted sellers who didn't want to pay upfront and buyers who wanted a written offer, an inspection right, and escrow instead of a handshake with a stranger.

2015: Adding RVs

By 2015 the process was proven on boats, and the company launched Pop RVs to do the same thing for motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers. RV owners had the same problem boat owners had: a dealer trade-in that paid a fraction of value, or a consignment lot that took the coach and charged fees whether or not it sold. Pop RVs offered the third option. The company changed its registered name in May 2015 as part of that expansion, and RVs went on to become a major share of the business.

2017: One Name for Both

Running two brands for one process made less sense as the company grew, so in December 2017 the registered name became Pop Sells, LLC. Pop Yachts and Pop RVs continued as the names buyers and sellers knew, which is why so many people still use them, but the company, the consultants, the closing department, and the marketing agreement were all Pop Sells from that point on.

2025: Part of a Public Company

On May 1, 2025, CAR Group Limited, the Australian-listed owner of Trader Interactive (RV Trader, Boatmart, Cycle Trader), acquired Pop Sells for AUD 42.4 million. That put Pop Sells alongside the largest RV and boat marketplaces in the country under one parent and gave it the backing of a public company. Public companies do not buy businesses without due diligence; the acquisition is the clearest third-party statement that Pop Sells is what it says it is.

Where the Company Is Now

Pop Sells is a national secure marketplace for boat and RV sales with more than 35,000 transactions closed since 2009, more than 250 consultants across the country, an in-house title and escrow department, and syndication to RV Trader, Boatmart, and the other Trader Interactive sites. The process is the same one that started in 2009: you keep your boat or RV, Pop markets it nationally, a consultant handles every buyer, and Pop is paid when it sells.
