Buying Through Pop Sells
What a buyer actually gets on a national secure marketplace: a consultant working your search, written offers, an escrowed deposit, a contractual right to inspect and walk away, and a closing team responsible for paying off any liens so you get a clean title.
The Short Version
Buying through Pop Sells is different from buying off a classified ad in one fundamental way: the transaction runs through a national secure marketplace instead of between two strangers. The seller pays Pop's commission, not you. A Pop consultant works the search and the negotiation for you, every offer is in writing, your deposit sits in escrow with a PDF receipt, you have a contractual right to inspect and walk away, and Pop's in-house title and escrow team is responsible for paying off any liens to ensure you get a clean title. Here is the whole process as a buyer sees it.
You can search Pop's inventory yourself on popsells.com, but the faster path is to tell a consultant your budget, the type of unit, and what matters to you, and let us search the country. Pop works for buyers the way a real estate agent does: if the exact model isn't listed today, we watch for it and email you new listings that match. Because Pop consultants are in 300+ cities across 44 states, there is usually someone who has physically seen the unit you're interested in. When you call me directly, I'm the one running your search.
All offers go in writing through your consultant. No deposit is required to make the offer — the seller may counter, and you shouldn't have money out until price and terms are agreed. Once the seller accepts, your deposit is due to bind the Purchase & Sale agreement: $1,000 on units under $100,000 and $2,500 on units over $100,000. The deposit goes into Pop's escrow account, not to the seller, and Pop emails you a PDF receipt recording the amount and its purpose.
After the deposit, Pop recommends a survey and sea trial on a boat, or an inspection and test drive on an RV. This is a right written into Pop's standard Purchase & Sale agreement, and I tell every buyer to exercise it. To keep the process independent, Pop does not pick the surveyor or inspector for you; Pop provides the three closest accredited professionals or a state list, you choose, and Pop coordinates the appointment. If the survey turns up something material, you renegotiate or walk. You can back out for any reason before signing the final acceptance document and your deposit comes back. Once you sign that acceptance, you either proceed or forfeit the deposit — that document is the point of no return, and it comes after the inspection, not before.
One practical note from the inspector's side of the table: as a Licensed USCG Master Captain and NRVIA Certified RV Inspector, I know what surveyors flag and what they miss. I can't be your inspector on a unit I'm brokering, but I can tell you what to have them look at.
This is where buying through Pop earns its keep. Your purchase funds are wired to Pop's separate, secure escrow account, not to the seller. Pop's closing team confirms the seller's lien is paid off from those funds, prepares the title and registration documents for your state, and coordinates with your lender if you're financing. Pop's closing services send and receive an average of 1,400 wires a month, have completed more than 20,000 transactions, and report never having had a complaint filed against their license. Your assigned Closing Advocate handles the coordination from inspection through delivery.
The only cost to a buyer from Pop is a $695 closing fee, which covers the lien payoff verification, the cost and liability of holding your funds in escrow, and the closing documentation. The seller pays Pop's commission. Sales tax depends on your state: Pop collects and remits it on Florida transactions (and on vessels staying in or coming to Maryland); everywhere else you pay it when you register the unit at home.
You can buy from any state. Pickup and transport are the buyer's responsibility: you collect the unit yourself or hire a carrier of your choice to bring it to your home, marina, or storage, and your consultant coordinates the handover with the seller. If you're taking a unit out of Florida, you have 30 days to do so, and most states give you about 30 days to register a newly purchased boat or RV.
Pop's lending partners can pre-qualify you before you shop so you know your ceiling and your payment. Insurance is available through Roamly, the RV Trader insurance marketplace (Pop and its affiliates are not licensed insurance brokers). Both are optional; both are set up through your consultant. The financing page covers how the pre-qualification works.
A private sale asks you to trust a stranger with a wire, trust that the title is clean, trust that the lien is paid, and trust that the unit is what the photos show. Pop replaces every one of those with a process: written offers, escrowed deposits with receipts, a contractual inspection right, lien payoff for a clean title, warranties of title, and a closing team that exists to do this and nothing else. Buying through Pop is not more expensive than buying privately — the $695 closing fee is the only Pop cost, and the seller pays the commission.
