The Number Everyone Wants First

Pop Sells Charges 10% of the Sale Price, Paid Only When It Sells

Pop Sells' commission is 10% of the final purchase price, with a $2,995 minimum on smaller units. On Pop's two standard programs there is no upfront fee of any kind: no listing fee, no photography fee, no marketing fee, no monthly charge. If Pop doesn't sell your boat or RV, you pay nothing. That is what "Paid on Performance" means, and it is written into the marketing agreement you sign.

Below is every fee Pop Sells publishes, program by program, followed by the questions sellers ask me most. Figures come from popsells.com's seller pages as of September 2026; if Pop changes a number, that page controls and I'll update this one.

The Three Listing Programs

ProgramUpfront FeeCommissionWho It's For
Quick Pop Program (QPP)None10% (min. $2,995)Units priced within 10% of market value with no lien and local Pop representation. For RVs: under $35,000 and 10 years old or newer.
Essential Pop ProgramNone10% (min. $2,995)Units priced within 10% of market value with full Pop marketing exclusivity (RVs: $35,000 and up; outside ads other than RV Trader not permitted).
Pop Open Program$499 marketing fee, covers 6 months10% (min. $2,995); the $499 is credited toward the commission if Pop sells it within the 6 monthsUnits that don't fit the first two — priced above market, carrying a lien, or sellers who want to keep advertising on their own.

In practice most sellers land in Quick Pop or Essential Pop and pay nothing until closing. Pop Open exists for the edge cases: you want to hold a price above what the market data supports, the unit has a lien, or you want to run your own ads in parallel. Even there, the $499 isn't lost — it comes off the commission when Pop sells the unit.

What the Commission Buys

Ten percent covers the entire service, not a listing slot. That includes the free market valuation, the consultant's visit with up to 100 professional photos and a walk-through video, the written listing, syndication to Boatmart, BoatCrazy, and Rightboat for boats or RV Trader and RVT for RVs, paid Google, Facebook, and Instagram campaigns, roughly 1.2 million marketing emails a week, a weekly activity report, every buyer inquiry and showing, offer and counteroffer negotiation, inspection coordination, and the closing department's work on title, lien payoff, and funds. On a $150,000 diesel pusher or a $200,000 center console, the commission is $15,000 or $20,000 — and the alternative is doing all of that yourself while wiring money with a stranger.

Fees You Will Not See

There is no fee to sign up, no fee for the valuation, no fee to have the consultant photograph the unit, no fee for the weekly report, and no fee if the listing expires unsold on the no-upfront programs. Pop does not charge a buyer's premium to the buyer. Insurance products are offered through Roamly, and Pop and its affiliates are not licensed insurance brokers, so nothing insurance-related is a Pop fee.

Liens and Payoffs

A lien does not add a fee; it changes which program you qualify for and how closing works. The buyer's funds pay the lienholder first, the balance comes to you, and if the payoff is larger than the sale price you send the lienholder the difference before closing. Pop's closing team runs this every day — it is the normal case on RVs, not the exception.

How Pop's Fees Compare

Traditional yacht brokerages typically charge 10% as well but usually require the boat to be delivered to their docks or a dealer lot, and consignment RV dealers commonly take a larger spread and keep the unit on their lot for months (full comparison: Pop Sells vs. RV consignment). Private classifieds are free to post and cost you the photography, the marketing, the tire-kickers, the negotiation, and the risk of the transaction itself. Pop's 10% is priced like a brokerage while you keep possession and use of the unit, backed by a closing department that has completed more than 33,000 transactions since 2009. Pop Sells Fees and Commission — FAQ

Not on the Quick Pop or Essential Pop programs. The Pop Open Program charges a $499 marketing fee that covers six months of national marketing; if Pop sells the unit within that period, the $499 is credited toward the 10% commission.

$2,995. On units where 10% of the sale price would be less than $2,995, the minimum applies.

Pop does not charge a buyer's premium.

On the Quick Pop and Essential Pop programs you owe nothing. On the Pop Open Program the $499 marketing fee is not refunded, but it is credited toward the commission if Pop sells the unit within the six-month period.

No. The pricing recommendation, the consultant's photo and video shoot, the written listing, the weekly activity report, and all marketing are included in the commission.
