The Short Version

Pop Sells Is a Full-Service Marketplace That Only Gets Paid When You Do

Pop Sells is a national secure marketplace for boat and RV sales. The model is simple: you keep your boat or RV, Pop markets it nationally, a Pop consultant handles every buyer, and Pop's in-house closing team moves the money and the title. Pop earns a commission only when the unit sells. Pop stands for Paid on Performance, and that promise is the entire business — if it doesn't sell, you owe nothing under the no-upfront-fee programs.

I've been a Pop Sells Master Consultant/Broker since 2015, and the question I get most from sellers is some version of "so what actually happens after I sign?" Here is the whole process, start to finish, with nothing left out.

Step 1: Sign the Marketing Agreement

Everything starts with a Pop Marketing Agreement. Several states legally require a signed agreement before anyone can market and sell a vessel or vehicle on your behalf, and the agreement is what defines Pop's role, your responsibilities, and the commission. On the no-upfront-fee programs there is nothing to pay at signing. You'll also be asked for proof of ownership at this stage — the title, registration, and, if the unit is owned by an LLC or trust, documentation showing you're authorized to sell. Pop asks for this up front for one reason: a second name on the title, a lapsed registration, or an unregistered trailer is far easier to fix in week one than on closing day.

Step 2: Pricing and the Free Market Valuation

If you don't know what your boat or RV is worth, Pop's pricing team reviews current market data and provides a pricing recommendation at no cost. Pop does not take everything: project boats, units that don't run or need major repairs, and boats valued under $25,000 that are more than 20 years old are declined, because they don't sell through this process and nobody is served by listing them.

Step 3: The Advertisement — Photos, Video, and Copy

A Pop consultant comes to the unit and produces the advertisement. Where local representation is available, that means up to 100 professional photos, a full walk-through video, and a detailed, feature-by-feature written description. If Pop doesn't have a consultant in your area, Pop's Central Advertising Team builds the listing and asks you for the photos and video. You review and approve the ad before it goes live, because you know the unit better than anyone and the accuracy of that listing is what attracts serious buyers instead of tire-kickers.

Step 4: National Marketing

This is where a full-service marketplace separates from a classified ad. A boat listing appears on popsells.com and is syndicated to Boatmart, BoatCrazy, and Rightboat; an RV listing goes to RV Trader and RVT. Pop runs paid campaigns on Google, Facebook, and Instagram and sends roughly 1.2 million marketing emails per week to active shoppers. Because Pop is a sister company of RV Trader and Boatmart under Trader Interactive, your unit sits inside the largest buyer audiences in the category. You receive a weekly activity report showing views, interested buyers, and inquiries, so you always know exactly what is happening with your listing.

Step 5: Buyer Inquiries, Showings, and Offers

Every inquiry comes to your Pop consultant, not to you. We qualify the buyer, answer questions, schedule showings, and present offers and counteroffers in writing. There is as much room to negotiate as you want — the consultant runs the negotiation, you make the decisions. Out-of-state and international buyers are routine; the buyer's location and the unit's location do not need to match, and most high-value units sell to someone in another state.

Step 6: Inspection or Survey

Serious buyers inspect. On boats that usually means a marine survey and sea trial; on RVs it can mean an NRVIA inspection or a dealer prep check. Pop coordinates the scheduling. Surveys routinely turn up minor items, and the consultant's job is to work through any adjustments so the deal stays on track. As a Licensed USCG Master Captain and NRVIA Certified RV Inspector, I know what inspectors look for, which is why my listings tend to be documented thoroughly before a buyer ever shows up.

Step 7: Closing Through Pop's Title and Escrow Team

This is the step that makes the marketplace secure. The buyer's funds go to Pop's closing department, not to you directly. Pop runs the title search, prepares the ownership documents for the buyer's state, coordinates with lenders and lienholders, and pays off any lien from the buyer's funds before the balance is released to you — same-day payout once the transaction is complete. Pop has closed more than 33,000 deals since 2009 and provides warranties of title on every transaction. Closing documents are delivered the next day. If there is a lien shortfall, you cover the difference before closing; if there's a surplus, it comes to you.

Step 8: Delivery

After closing, Pop coordinates pickup and transportation. Buyers often ship the unit or travel to collect it, and Pop does its best to have a local consultant present at delivery whenever scheduling allows. Then it's done: you were never out of pocket, you never handled a wire from a stranger, and you never had to figure out another state's title rules. What each program costs, line by line, is on the Pop Sells fees and commission page.
